Research Interests
The Extent of Radicalized Migrant Workers to the Terrorism Cases in Indonesia
Research Work
Indonesia is one of the largest sources of migrant workers in Southeast Asia. Most of them are employed as maids, nannies, or caretaker for elder people. A number of terrorist cases have been traced back to Indonesian women who had previously been migrant workers.
Hypothetically, the extremist groups easily exploit migrant workers by tapping into their vulnerabilities, since they express their struggles and hardships through social media. They are targeted for fundraising purposes.
